But you know what you would have called it just a month ago ?
LOOT PI-ATA !
So, what exactly changed from last month other than a lot of extra rage ?

Sure, CCP has screwed the pooch with a lot of things, and it's obvious a lot of people are mad. Hell, *I* don't like quite a few things CCP did either, and I don't have any hopes it will get any better any time soon.
But still, since when are high SP counts and expensive gear no longer "LOL, EBAY" and "YAY, LOOT PI-ATA!" but instead "GAH, HE WON" ?
Originally by: Tea Ester Elliot You of all people should know the importance of AUR sold items (ships, ammo, etc.) not being involved with the player economy.
ONLY if the equivalent AUR price of a new item in the NEX ends up similar to (or god forbid lower than) the equivalent pre-existing item. As long as NEX pricing comes up at radically higher prices compared to similar pre-existing items, the "bypass player economy" argument is completely moot. And even if pricing would be similar, you're still forgetting that YOU CAN BUY THEM WITH ISK TOO, INDIRECTLY. Sure, it might raise the price of PLEX in ISK, but then you're not really complaining about the economy, you're complaining of PLEX prices.
Sure, you're "bypassing the economy" or whatever, but just how many Estamel-equivalent items do you think would be purchased from the NEX shop if they'd ever make an appearance in there ? And how exactly does that make any bloody difference to 99.999% of the population which never ever in their entire EVE life have seen Estamel in space ? Boo-hoo, so you buy it from a shop instead of another player. Big deal. Unless you're an officer farmer and the prices are too low, you shouldn't even begin to care. Afterall, CCP already controls the number of those items in existence already by tweaking the spawn rates and loot table drop chances - if anything, this gives players control over volume and CCP control over TOP price in relation to PLEX price, but PLAYERS also drive PLEX price so, basically, this gives players control. It still doesn't really matter all that much.
What matters is... since when are high SP counts and expensive gear no longer met with "LOL, EBAY" and "YAY, LOOT PI-ATA!" but instead considered a sign of "winning" ?!?
Akita, I do love your posts by the way :)
I more mad about the 18 months with a huge focus on non-ship non-pvp additions to the game. I wish there was a more 50/50 split on game development.
I am also not pleased with forced barbie dolls and removed ship-spinning... not so much because I hate them, but because I know we got them instead of some other content that I might've actually used...
Mostly, though, I'm completely appalled ( though not surprised I suppose ) with the disdain with which CCP leadership views us, their customers.
Finally, with the dumbing down of several features, and the NEX easy button that is forthcoming, it's going to draw a different type of crowd. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. The problem is that this new crowd is not going to like the " you can die anywhere " aspect of eve, and the changes we're seeing now will inevitable end the sandbox completely.
This makes me sad. But it is CCPs game, and they're going to do what they want. Honestly the changes they're making will, I think, undoubtedly make them more money. I can't blame them. I just figured if they wanted to go mass-market, they would've done it long before 8 years passed by.
So yea, you can say LOL, EBAY, YAY, LOOT PI-ATA!, and GAH, HE WON... until of course the new folks that spend all the AUR on NEX get tired of spending 100 bucks and losing it the same day. Then the rules will change.
I don't want an easy-eve nor do I relish mingling amonst people who do.
And that disdain thing, that's hard to ignore too.
